A first course in calculus which provides basic mathematical tools for the study of changing systems often encountered in engineering. This course will build on high school mathematics such as basic algebra, trigonometry, geometry etc. whilst providing a platform for studying multivariable systems and differential equations in future courses. Topics will include functions, mathematical induction, limits & continuity, indeterminate forms and L’Hopital’s rule, derivatives and applications, methods of differentiation, antiderivatives and indefinite integrals, definite integrals and applications, methods of analytic integration, numerical integration, improper integrals, sequences & series, Taylor series.
